FC Bayern have apparently finalized the most important personnel decision regarding the future of their goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer will extend his contract with the German record champions
As reported by BILD, the 40-year-old has signed a new contract until 2027 and will therefore be entering his 16th season as a Bayern professional
Stand-in keeper Sven Ulreich will also remain with the Munich club, with the 37-year-old also reportedly extending his contract for a further year
After Neuer’s strong performances – particularly in the Champions League – the Bayern bosses are said to have been determined to continue their collaboration
According to the report, the veteran will also be a regular keeper in the coming season, while Neuer will also help to develop Jonas Urbig as his long-term successor
The 22-year-old is seen internally as a great hope for the future in the Bayern goal, with Neuer continuing to play an important mentoring role for the young keeper
Last season, Urbig already received significantly more playing time than before, and this path is to be consistently continued in the future

According to tz, the contract extension could be officially announced on Friday, while other media report that Neuer could announce the decision himself during the championship celebrations on Sunday at Munich’s Marienplatz
Sporting director Max Eberl did not want to officially confirm the agreement on Friday at the press conference before the Cologne game. „We’re talking, he’s top. It looks good, but there’s nothing to announce yet,“ explained the 52-year-old
With the extension, Bayern are continuing to rely on continuity in the goalkeeping position. Despite his age, Neuer remains one of the most important figures at the record champions both in sporting terms and in the dressing room
The 2014 world champion has won a total of 13 German championships and the Champions League twice with the Munich club.
