Memphis Depay has sustained a right anterior thigh strain during Corinthians’ draw with Flamengo on Sunday, sidelining him for an estimated four to six weeks. According to Meu Timao, it is his seventh medical issue since he arrived in September 2024.

He underwent tests on Monday that confirmed the injury. Corinthians have not released an official recovery timeline, and he has been withdrawn from the Netherlands squad for the March international window.

On joining in 2024, Depay needed conditioning after over two months without a game. After his debut against Atlético-GO he had left-ankle pain, scans showed no injury, and later that year left-knee discomfort was managed to keep him in key Brasileirão and Sudamericana matches.

In 2025 he endured a run of issues. January brought right-thigh oedema that saw him miss the start of the Paulistão under load management. Early April an ankle knock sidelined him six days, then a leg trauma later that month cost five more.

In May he sprained his left ankle and missed 16 days. Between August and October he had two thigh injuries totalling about 44 days out, missing important fixtures including the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals.

In November he sustained another knee sprain with muscular oedema, missing 16 days to avoid a worse setback before the Copa do Brasil deciders. Early in 2026 he skipped the opening weeks for muscular rebalancing and did not travel to face Chapecoense last Thursday.
