Messi set to continue with Inter Miami amid rumours of a European switch ahead of the 2026 World Cup | OneFootball

Inter Miami star Lionel Messi was reportedly considering a move to a more prominent league ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the Major League Soccer (MLS) club have dismissed the rumours.

Miami were eliminated from the Club World Cup by Paris Saint-Germain. The French side powered to an emphatic 4-0 victory in their round of 16 tie.

However, Messi showed he can still play at the highest level with an exquisite free-kick against Porto.

He also created three big chances in his four outings, completing three dribbles per 90 minutes.

Messi would strengthen several top European teams, but he has no intention of leaving MLS.

His wife is happy in the United States, where she is the face of the jewellery company Tiffany.

His children play in youth football, and the former Barcelona and PSG star regularly attends their games.

Messi is reluctant to uproot his family and current lifestyle for a move back to Europe, no matter how tempting the offer may be.

Following their Club World Cup exit, Miami return to MLS action this Sunday with a clash against CF Montreal.
