Metz ultras march before Brest with banner ‘Pour un projet sportif à Metz’ | OneFootball

Horda Frénétik and Gruppa Metz led a peaceful march to Saint-Symphorien before Brest’s visit, rallying behind a banner reading “Pour un projet sportif à Metz”.

According to L'Équipe, around 1,000 supporters met at Place de la République at 14:30, then set off about an hour later for a walk of roughly two kilometres to the stadium. The Ligue 1 fixture, matchday 24, was due to kick off at 17:15, with Metz bottom before kick-off. Organisers described the action as a first step.

The groups, frustrated by results and the club’s leadership, had issued a statement earlier in the week. They said the same scenario repeats each season, with no ambitious long-term sporting plan to secure a stable Ligue 1 future, and that loyalty from fans had helped the club return after drops to Ligue 2 and National. Fatigue, they added, has peaked and they can no longer accept an unambitious policy without a long-term project.

Marchers dressed in black walked behind a banner featuring a red-barred cross of Lorraine and the inscription “Pour un projet sportif à Metz”. A capo had warned it would be largely silent and funereal, and it was quiet until halfway, before some chants critical of the board.

Part of the ultras entered Saint-Symphorien, but not all. Following LFP sanctions after the interrupted home match against Lyon on 25 January, which finished 2-5 and involved fireworks and observed verbal expressions, the Tribune Est basse was closed for two matches and the Tribune Ouest basse for one.
