The Frenchman has been heavily coveted this summer after his star showings for Bayern Munich in the last couple of campaigns since his arrival in Germany from Crystal Palace.

Signed by former Manchester City captain and current Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, the forward has played 107 times for the Bundesliga champions, scoring 42 goals and laying on 54 assists.

He has been linked strongly with a move to Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain were also thought to have held interest in the former Palace winger, who netted the Eagles a reported €60million fee when he left Selhurst Park in the summer of 2024.

Now, according to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Olise, 24, has reportedly decided that he wants to join Real after France’s semi-final exit to Spain at the World Cup.

He played 72 minutes of Les Bleus’ 2-0 defeat in Arlington, Texas, before he was withdrawn by Didier Deschamps. Rayan Cherki, the Manchester City man, replaced him.

Aouna claims that the French international believes Real is the perfect club to continue his progression, with Los Blancos keen to offer Bayern a world-record fee to make a move happen.

The German champions insist that Olise is not for sale, and would like to offer him a new contract.

However, it is also thought that die Bayern have identified a number of players that could replace the Frenchman, who was born in Hammersmith.

Real Madrid’s interest remains uncertain, however, after the La Liga side issued one of their infamous ‘Comunicado oficial’ statements back in June to claim that they had “not had any direct or indirect contact with [Olise], his representatives, or individuals in his circle.

“Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration, and admiration, and regrets the dissemination of speculations that do not correspond to reality.”

The saga will continue, and will likely be delayed further with Olise’s involvement at the World Cup not over yet.

France, despite losing to Spain in the last four, will partake in the third and fourth-place play-off, held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on Saturday, against either England or Argentina, dependent on who loses in the other semi-final this evening.

Olise has produced six assists in seven games at this summer’s tournament, starting all of the 2022 finalists’ matches either on the right wing or as a No10.
