Michael Oliver will referee Leeds United’s final home match of the season against Brighton on Sunday after the Premier League confirmed their latest appointments.

Leeds walk out at Elland Road for the final time with top-flight status already secured. They were safe before Monday’s trip to Tottenham and still came from behind to earn a draw.

With survival wrapped up, Daniel Farke’s side are playing for pride and a higher finish. Brighton are seventh, two points behind Bournemouth in sixth, which could mean Champions League qualification this season.

Oliver will be assisted by Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring. Sam Allison is the fourth official, with Stuart Attwell on VAR at Stockley Park.

The FIFA referee has overseen three Leeds matches this season, including November’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton. He also took charge of February’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa and the 2-2 home stalemate with Bournemouth in September. He averages 22.81 fouls and 3.04 yellow cards per game.

Attwell was referee for February’s 1-0 home defeat by Sunderland, when Leeds were denied a penalty after Luke O’Nien grabbed Pascal Struijk around the neck in the area. VAR Paul Tierney reviewed the incident but did not advise an on-field check, a decision later judged incorrect in a unanimous Key Match Incidents verdict, which said O’Nien impeded Struijk without playing the ball. Farke called the decision crazy.
