Former Leeds United interim boss Michael Skubala has led Lincoln City to League One promotion with a 2-1 win at Reading, returning the Imps to the Championship for the first time since 1961.
Lincoln conceded a 92nd-minute equaliser at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, but substitute Jack Moylan struck four minutes later to clinch it. "We want to win the title, the lads have said that they definitely want to win it." He told Sky Sports.
Skubala took charge in November 2023, his first permanent managerial job, after a brief spell as Leeds United interim head coach. He oversaw a 2-2 draw at Manchester United, then lost the reverse fixture and at Everton.
Lincoln are unbeaten in 24 games, have spent seven years in League One, and are clear favourites for the third-tier title. They are also the first EFL side to secure promotion this season.
"We'll enjoy tonight, we'll go out and have a beer. But we'll be back in on Wednesday, after a day off tomorrow, and then we'll be ready for a big game at home [Leyton Orient on Saturday]."
"Reading are a good team and it was an excellent goal from Lewis Wing that brought them back into it. We kept believing that we could catch them on the counter, and that's what happened. I'm not really thinking about next season yet."
