Milan will likely bring in a new center-forward in January, but their moves might be influenced by their future plans, as they are in pole position to sign Dusan Vlahovic on a Bosman transfer, Sport reports (via Fantacalcio).
The Serbian marksman has had an okay season so far, but will miss months due to a thigh injury. His resurgence could entice Juventus to reopen the talks to prolong his contract.
Milan are helped by the solid rapport between Massimiliano Allegri and Vlahovic. The center-forward will pocket an €8M base salary plus a €4M add-on this campaign. According to the Spanish publication, Barcelona had been tracking him for a possible free transfer. However, they crossed him off because they thought he’d end up at San Siro.
As for January, Nicklas Fullkrug has leapfrogged the other options mainly because he’s easy to add, Mediaset informs. He’d join on loan, with the Rossoneri covering his salary for the next six months, €1.5M. On the other hand, he has suffered 3 serious injuries in the last 15 months. He has other offers, but will wait for them.
The brass could opt for a band-aid at the position. Santiago Gimenez might have surgery to address his recurring ankle problems.
It’d be a little odd if the Serb had already decided to leave after returning to prominence at Juventus and quickly came to terms with a team that’s not exactly lavish when it comes to wages, but stranger things have happened. Choosing a bridge solution, waiting for him or Robert Lewandowski would be an okay proposition. Though, onboarding a difference-maker right away could potentially swing the Scudetto race.
