Milan’s Luka Modric fractures cheekbone, surgery underway | OneFootball

Milan midfielder Luka Modric has sustained a cheekbone fracture during the side’s match against Juventus this past weekend. 

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, the former Real Madrid midfield maestro is currently undergoing surgery, a day after a clash with the Old Lady’s Manuel Locatelli, which fractured his cheekbone. 

Modric remained on the ground receiving treatment following an accidental collision with the Bianconeri midfielder during the game. However, he left the pitch early for medical assessments, which confirmed the injury. 

The Rossoneri are awaiting further news regarding the Croatian veteran’s health, and his season is expected to be over. A recovery plan will be set by the club’s medical department following his release from the hospital, and he will aim to make it back before the World Cup. 

In his debut season with Milan, Modric played an influential role for Massimiliano Allegri in the engine room and he felt no pressure after spending years at Real Madrid.
