After being forced off with an injury during AS Monaco’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain (1-3) last Friday, Vanderson (24) will undergo surgery on his left hamstring in Finland in the coming hours, GFFN understands.
Although the date of his return is not yet known, the main goal of his rehabilitation is to get him ready and fit to compete in the World Cup. That deadline is fast approaching, with national team manager Carlo Ancelotti set to announce the list of players selected for the competition on 19th May. Of note, Vanderson has already been ruled out of the friendly matches against France and Croatia at the end of March.
Already injured in the hamstring in the autumn, the Auriverde right-back has made 23 appearances (16 starts) in all competitions since the start of the 2025-26 season, with two assists. A Brazilian international with seven caps, he has not played for the Seleção since June 2025, when he featured in a World Cup 2026 qualifier against Paraguay.
