On the eve of their Africa Cup of Nations opener against the Comoros, Morocco coach Walid Regragui attacked Roma.
The Giallorossi would have liked to use El Aynaoui in last Monday’s match against Como, allowing the Moroccan to stay in Rome for an extra day, as happened with Ndicka and his Ivorian national team.
“Like all other national teams, we also had players held back by their clubs. We were in constant contact with them and had arguments with some. It’s normal, they’re their employers.”
“We had some problems with some clubs, for example, Manchester United and Roma didn’t want to release Mazraoui and El Aynaoui. We appealed to FIFA to defend our rights, but we were a bit disappointed.”
“I want to thank Real Betis, a great club, as well as Fenerbahce for their class. The important thing is that all the players were here on Monday.”
