Achraf Hakimi
Is Achraf Hakimi ready to kick off AFCON 2025 with Morocco? Walid Regragui, head coach of the Atlas Lions, provides an update.
On November 4, Achraf Hakimi suffered a serious sprain against Bayern Munich (1-2) in the Champions League. Since then, the Moroccan international has been working hard to shorten his expected absence. While the Paris Saint-Germain player's return was anticipated during the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco coach Walid Regragui is hopeful to have his captain back for the opening match against Comoros on December 21.
"He’s doing well. He’s doing what he needs to do. He’s a hard worker and is eager to be there for the first game. He’s been working tirelessly since his injury, never stopping, always staying true to himself with a great attitude. He’s our leader, our captain, our (African) Ballon d’Or. We hope he’ll be there for the very first match," the Atlas Lions coach told RMC yesterday.
