FC Bayern could expect another multi-million euro windfall in the coming days—even though Nestory Irankunda left the club some time ago. The reason is a lucrative resale clause that the Munich club secured when the Australian was transferred.

According to information from transfer journalists Ekrem Konur and Rudy Galetti, Nestory Irankunda is on the verge of a move from Watford FC to Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese club is reportedly offering around 15 million euros for the attacking player. With bonus payments, the total package could even rise to as much as 20 million euros.

Bayern is negotiating the resale clause

From a financial perspective, the deal is particularly attractive for FC Bayern. When Irankunda was sold to England, the Munich club agreed to a resale share of approximately 40 percent. Accordingly, a portion of the transfer fee would go directly to the German record champions.

However, it is precisely this clause that is currently complicating the transfer. According to reports, talks are underway between Watford and FC Bayern to adjust the agreement.

The English club would like to avoid having to immediately hand over a significant portion of the proceeds to the Munich club. Therefore, various models are apparently being discussed. One possibility, for example, would be for Bayern to temporarily waive a small portion of its share and, in return, receive a share of any future resale of Irankunda.

Bayern is likely to make only limited concessions

As things stand, however, waiving the agreed-upon revenue is considered unrealistic. Rather, the discussion is likely to focus solely on a minor adjustment to the terms so that the transfer does not fall through over financial details.

For FC Bayern, reaching an agreement would certainly make sense. After all, even with a slightly reduced share, the record champion would immediately receive millions and, at the same time, preserve the chance for further revenue in the future.

Negotiations between all parties involved are currently ongoing. No final agreement has been reached yet. However, the trend suggests that the move to Portugal will be finalized in the coming days—and that FC Bayern could once again benefit from its strategic transfer policy as a result.
