According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are still working on bringing in Kobbie Mainoo on loan this winter.

The club has resumed contact with the player's agent, and the interest appears to be mutual: Mainoo reportedly sees Napoli as a good option to get more playing time. However, the club's management is also preparing a plan B in case Manchester United once again refuse to let him leave.

Reports in Italy claim that Napoli have been in contact with Kobbie Mainoo's agent again in recent weeks, that the interest is 'mutual', and that the Partenopei have a back-up option at Roma approaching the January transfer window.

The alternative is named Lorenzo Pellegrini. The 29-year-old midfielder is nearing the end of his contract with Roma, and Napoli believe he could be available if the Mainoo deal falls through.
