Of all of Real Madrid’s new signings, the one who has silently established himself as a bona fide starter and irreplaceable candidate in the starting XI is Alvaro Carreras.
Since the first time he stepped on the field for Los Blancos, there has been no looking back for the team’s new left-back as he has looked confident in attack, solid in defence and calm in possession.
In fact, he has completed all 540 minutes of Real Madrid’s games on the field and is one of the team’s only players to have not spent even a moment on the sidelines.

As relayed earlier this week, Spain national team manager Luis de La Fuente has had his eyes on Carreras for a while now and was taking notice of his impressive performances, opening the door to a potential future call-up.
Now, MARCA bring to light that the wait may not be long for the Spaniard as he is seriously impressing the manager to the point that he may be included in Spain’s next call-up.
A role in the national team appears to be on the immediate horizon for him and there is now increasing talk of including him in the squad at the earliest, giving him good chances of even travelling to the FIFA World Cup next year.
At this point, a call-up from La Roja would only be a reassurance that the player is indeed one of the best in the world in his position. Real Madrid, needless to say, are getting the return on their investment of €50 million in the player.
So far this season, the former Benfica star is the second-best placed defender in terms of passes completed per game and third in terms of big chances created. Given that he is still just 22 years of age, he will only get better.
