The Leipziger Volkszeitung reports that Assan Ouédraogo’s latest knee tendon injury will leave the RB Leipzig phenom sidelined for weeks. According to the paper, RB head coach Ole Werner’s rather grim prognosis at his Friday pre-match press conference related to the fact that an MRI san on Thursday revealed bad news.
The paper claims that there was plenty of good news. No tear in Ouédraogo’s cruciate, medial, or lateral ligaments was detected. Surgery will not be necessary. Unfortunately, the patella tendon at the back of the 19-year-old’s knee – the very same issue that plagued Ouédraogo in November – is once again severely strained.
The unofficial LVZ diagnosis holds that Ouédraogo will have to take a break of “several weeks” in order to allow the tendon to heal. This renders it likely that the eminently successful newly capped German international will simply not be available for up to three to four fixtures and certainly won’t be able to start for some time.
