Kieran McKenna and Frank Lampard guided their respective sides to automatic promotion, with the latter achieving the Championship title in the process.

Meanwhile, Rob Edwards will be preparing for life in the second tier again after the Midlands outfit suffered relegation from the Premier League.

It is set to be a busy summer ahead for all three clubs, with Wolves aiming to build a team capable of earning promotion back to the top flight.

Ipswich and Coventry will be keen to maintain their place in the division long-term, with the former coming straight back up at the first attempt after coming 19th in the table last season.

The Sky Blues haven’t competed in the Premier League since 2001, and will be hoping that it won’t just be a one-and-done scenario.

It was exclusively revealed by FLW that Wolves are interested in signing Dan Neil as a free agent this summer, with the midfielder set to depart Sunderland at the end of his contract.

Coventry have also been mentioned as a potential destination following his loan spell at Ipswich Town, who are also interested in a permanent deal for the player.

However, according to Talksport, Valencia are now also in the mix for the 24-year-old.

It has been claimed that former West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is an admirer of the Sunderland player, who helped the Black Cats gain promotion in 2025 before moving on loan to Portman Road in January.

It is unclear whether Neil would be open to a move to Spanish football, with Valencia still in contention for qualification to European competition ahead of the final weekend of the campaign.

Corberan’s side are currently ninth in La Liga with just one game to go, and they could still finish as high as seventh, which would qualify the club for the UEFA Conference League.

Neil is set to become a free agent in the summer, meaning he will have his pick for his next team.

The 24-year-old made 16 appearances in the Championship this season as Ipswich finished second in the table.

But it is far from guaranteed that he will reunite with McKenna’s side in the summer, especially as he only started on eight occasions.

Neil came through the ranks of the Sunderland academy system, but fell down the pecking order of Régis Le Bris’ team following their play-off triumph last year.

Valencia option could be appealing for Dan Neil

The opportunity to play in Spain could be quite attractive for Neil, particularly at a club the size of Valencia and a coach like Corberan.

If they qualify for European football next season, then it will be even more appealing, and offer him the chance to experience a different kind of football.

However, he will surely be prioritising game time when picking his next club, and it remains to be seen whether he will be chosen to start for the Spanish side on a consistent basis.

One thing that is clear is that he has no shortage of options after helping Ipswich win promotion to the Premier League.
