New RFEF President Rafael Louzan announces new 31-person board including Javier Tebas | OneFootball

Freshly elected Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President Rafael Louzan has appointed his board for the coming term, consisting of a remarkable 31 members.

Included in that hefty number are La Liga President Javier Tebas, Spanish Player’s Union (AFE) President David Aganzo, and Liga F President Beatriz Alvarez. Louzan also brought in former Secretary for Sport Maria Jose Rienda, in four moves that are being looked on as an attempt to repair relations with the other major power structures in Spanish football. The Ministry for Culture and Sport (CSD) are reportedly not keen on his appointment, feeling his previous prevarication conviction should bar him from employment, but Rienda also has a relationship with the government.

Relevo also say that it is the first time that the board will consist of 50% of women (15), a major step forward in terms of seeing women in senior leadership positions. Sergio Merchan will be his second in command.

The CSD and Louzan are awaiting the results of court case regarding his previous conviction. They are angling for a seven-year suspension from taking office as a result, and the result of the case is set to be back in February.
