In a recent report, The Times stated that Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Coventry City midfielder Jack Rudoni. It has been mentioned that the Magpies are showing interest in signing the English sensation this summer.
Rudoni enjoyed a brilliant campaign at Coventry as he managed to put in a string of impressive displays at the heart of their midfield. The 23-year-old found the back of the net ten times and secured 13 assists in 50 matches for the Sky Blues last season in various competitions.
The London-born talent gave a good account of himself in the middle of the park and managed to average 1.98 shots per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He also kept 36.4% of his attempts on target. However, Rudoni needs to work on improving his ball distribution after completing just 71.6% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
Rudoni is under contract at the West Midlands club until the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for Newcastle to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Rudoni usually generates a lot of power with his shots from long-range. He has also got the vision to play a few decisive passes in the final third. The English midfield ace is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player if told to do so.
Rudoni would no doubt enhance the quality of Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at St. James’ Park next season.
At 23, Rudoni has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Tyneside club to pursue this summer. However, only time will tell whether he can adjust to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing a player of Rudoni’s skill set. Therefore, Howe would be wise to go all out to get him on board in this summer transfer window.
