Neymar has signed a new Santos contract running until December 2026. Minutes later, his stay until the end of the season was confirmed.
According to Globo.com, the paperwork had been ready for days, and on 31 December the club posted a video signalling a 12-month deal rather than six.
Neymar said 2026 had arrived as it should. He called Santos his place, where he feels at home, safe and happy, and said he wants to chase the remaining dreams with supporters.
The forward, recovering from arthroscopy on his left knee, visited CT Rei Pelé on Tuesday with his father during a training session. He completed a physiotherapy session in the club’s medical area.
His recovery is forecast for the end of January, with a possible return to action in early February. His sessions are overseen by his personal staff, including physiotherapist Rafael Martini.
This 12-month arrangement is the third since he joined last January, after an initial six-month deal and a June renewal for a further six. Negotiations took weeks to agree the preferred structure.
Neymar’s CLT cost is approximately equivalent to five regular players each month. In addition, Santos have committed to pay R$ 85 million in instalments to NR Sports, his parents’ company, for image rights.
