Nicolo Rovella likely to play key role for Lazio this season | OneFootball

Serie A side Lazio didn’t make a single signing in the summer transfer window but they also managed to keep all their key players. Nicolo Rovella is now expected to play a key role under Maurizio Sarri this season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Italian has convinced the manager about his abilities. There were initial doubts about whether Danilo Cataldi could play over Rovella but they have been dispelled and Rovella will be a regular in midfield.

The Italy international had a release clause worth €50 million in his contract and it expired at the end of July. No club exercised it and now, Rino Gattuso has called him up for the Azzurri, where Rovella can become a regular.

Sarri had been key to bringing the 23-year-old to Lazio in his previous stint and his return to Rome has increased the connection between Rovella and the Biancocelesti, who are now ready to see him reach the next level and take a leading role this season.
