Manchester United reportedly held initial talks with transfer target Tyler Adams back in the January window, according to Ben Jacobs.
However, they did so with the intention of adding him to the ranks this summer rather than a mid-season acquisition, meaning they could reopen discussions in the coming weeks.

Earlier this campaign, in the 4-4 draw between United and Bournemouth at Old Trafford, Adams was withdrawn inside five minutes after tearing the medial ligament in his left knee.
He later reflected on the gutting setback after making his return, and told the Men In Blazers podcast: “It wasn’t ideal. You dream of nights playing at Old Trafford against Man United. Those are the biggest games you can play in the Premier League, and something like that happens.”

Following his scintillating display at the Emirates last weekend, United were also linked with Adams’ midfield counterpart Alex Scott, and named as one of his many English suitors in the lead-up to the window.
Last Saturday, the midfielder sealed an emphatic away victory for Bournemouth over league leaders Arsenal, doing so with a tremendously taken finish in the second half.
The 22-year-old was rewarded for his game-winning efforts – during which he also made six final-third passes, recorded three accurate long balls and registered 13 defensive contributions (Fotmob) – by being named the Man of the Match.

Scott signed for the Cherries back in August 2023 in a £25 million switch from Bristol City.
At the time, he had been on a number of clubs’ shortlists, but favoured a move to the Vitality Stadium, where he could gain crucial Premier League experience.
And that he has; the youngster has now racked up 75 top-flight appearances, 48 of which were as a starter, and 4,171 minutes of game time.
When weighing in on INEOS’ rumoured interest in Adams and Scott, Jacobs told The United Stand on Thursday: “[United] held some initial discussions [with Tyler Adams] in January with a view to the summer.
“Bournemouth hope to keep Alex Scott, but these discussions might suggest that United aren’t ruling out adding three midfielders, especially if they can do one economically.”
