Nou Mestalla pact unlocks Benicalap sports hub with halls, heated pool and outdoor courts | OneFootball

Valencia has taken a key step towards the Benicalap sports complex beside Nou Mestalla after sealing a deal with Valencia CF.

According to Superdeporte, the City Council’s governing board approved the deal on Thursday, granting free use of Nou Mestalla for a series of national and international competitions. It also envisages an urban realm with meeting spaces, a club museum, rooms for supporters’ groups and former players, and a possible monument.

The works project has been submitted to begin the contracting process for the Municipal Benicalap Sports Centre.

Plans include a hall on Dr Nicasio Benlloch Street, split into arenas for 176 and 139 spectators. One is for artistic gymnastics, the other for a futsal court or similar.

A heated pool will have a beach area and two pools, the main 25x10 metres for lane swimming, the second 10x6 for small supervised groups and prenatal swimming. Changing rooms and technical areas are included.

Outside, there will be open-air sports courts and landscaped areas, plus an exhibition park for the archaeological remains of the old Molino de la Marquesa with independent access.

The Municipal Sports Foundation updated the project, valuing it at €11,270,045.06 including VAT, equal to the base tender budget. Valencia CF has deposited that sum with the municipal treasury, plus 5% for enhancing the remains and rebuilding the protected chimney.

The agreement also requires Valencia CF to install a photovoltaic roof to promote renewable, non-polluting energy as a sustainability and innovation measure.
