Controversy dominated Rayo Vallecano’s defeat to Real Sociedad, with home players raging at key decisions that shaped the match.

Rayo thought Carlos Martín had levelled, but VAR asked the referee to review a possible penalty for Real Sociedad in the build-up. The goal was ruled out, a penalty was awarded, and Mikel Oyarzabal converted for 1-3, turning a 2-2 into a 1-3.

Nteka later erupted on Instagram, branding the night a robbery and a lack of respect. He criticised the seasonal talks on respect, then lauded Vallecas’s spirit, praised his team’s character, thanked supporters and vowed that Rayo will always fight.

“Football was beautiful when it was football. The people at the top want this to become a shambles. VAR checks a doubtful incident. It is never a penalty. We have a lot at stake. We boast about having the best, the biggest league, and we suffer this. Players used to be the protagonists, now we are not,” said Camello, he told DAZN.
