Manchester City could welcome arguably their most famous supporters to the Etihad Stadium in 2026 for a blockbuster gig as part of their ongoing reunion tour.
The potential return of Oasis to the blue side of Manchester would come at a symbolic moment for both the club and the band, with City completing the extensive redevelopment of their stadium’s North Stand – a project that includes a significant capacity increase, new fan facilities, and hospitality expansions.
The band’s connection to the area and their lifelong affiliation with Manchester City make the idea of a comeback show at the Etihad Stadium feel almost inevitable. The Gallagher brothers’ reunion has sparked huge excitement across the glove, with their 2025 tour dates selling out instantly and prompting conversations about additional major venues for the following year.
For Manchester City’s ownership and commercial teams, hosting Oasis at a newly expanded Etihad Stadium would be a landmark moment, showcasing the venue’s upgraded offerings and reinforcing the club’s role as a cultural as well as sporting hub.
According to the information of the Daily Star, Oasis are lined up to perform in the spring at the Etihad Stadium, with City officials wanting the club’s lifelong fans to be the first to kick off the updated stadium with their Live Comeback shows.
It is pointed out that Oasis had originally wanted to play at the Etihad but ongoing redevelopment work and construction made it impossible to fit into their existing 2025 schedule, and current discussions taking place are centred around how many dates the band could fit in due to expected demand.
The report quotes an Insider, who has explained, “This is the show that the city wants and that Noel and Liam are extremely excited about. They have enjoyed such a mammoth amount of love and fan reaction this year from their return, but next year will go up a notch.
“The band had hoped to play the Etihad, but the construction made it impossible. Now the club has them lined up to reopen the place to stadium shows. It is quite poetic in many ways.
“They are so connected to the club and venue, the fans are connected to them and the anniversary makes it special. It also really sets a fire under their next run of shows in 2026. This will be a huge deal Just how many shows they book are still being worked on.”
Should the performances go ahead, the Etihad Stadium would likely become one of the biggest stages of a 2026 tour thanks to its expanded 60,000-plus capacity and brand-new event infrastructure.
With redevelopment expected to be operational by early 2026, the arena will be equipped to handle multiple consecutive nights – something Oasis and Manchester City fans are already anticipating given unprecedented demand.
The scale of the reunion suggests that any further Manchester dates off the back of their Heaton Park evenings in 2025 could sell out instantly, potentially leading to additional shows or even a full residency depending on scheduling and appetite.
For Manchester City, such an event would also serve as a high-profile demonstration of the club’s long-term vision for the Etihad Campus, transforming it into a year-round entertainment destination.
