Paul Onuachu has left Southampton to permanently join Trabzonspor in Turkey. After a lackluster season with the Saints in the Premier League, the 31-year-old Nigerian striker returns to the Süper Lig, where he made a huge impression just a year ago.
Southampton FC officially confirmed Paul Onuachu's departure this Friday, June 27, 2025. The Nigerian's long-anticipated return to Turkey is now a reality. With the English club relegated to the EFL Championship, the former Genk striker has opted to return to Trabzonspor, who have not forgotten his heroics (21 matches, 15 goals) during his 2023 loan spell.
"Southampton Football Club confirms that an agreement has been reached with Trabzonspor for the transfer of striker Paul Onuachu. The 31-year-old is set to leave St Mary's after two and a half years, during which he scored four goals in 40 appearances, to join the Turkish club, where he was also on loan during the 2023/24 season," the club wrote.
Just hours after the Saints' announcement, Paul Onuachu wasted no time in sending a message to his Trabzonspor fans, who had long been hoping for his return to Turkey. "I missed you. I know you missed me too. I'm back, stronger, more prepared, and hungrier to score goals. We still have unfinished business," the Super Eagles striker said with delight.
