Official: Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso wins La Liga Coach of the Month award for August | OneFootball

Following a brilliant start to his debut season as a manager in La Liga, Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has won the league’s Coach of the Month award for August.

Alonso took over the reins from Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid back in June and went on to lead the team to the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals.

Having had a relatively short pre-season, the manager has been still able to get his ideas across to the players as Los Blancos have secured nine points from their first three games in La Liga – winning against Osasuna, Real Oviedo, and RCD Mallorca.

In the three matches, Real Madrid have scored six goals and conceded just once, showcasing a new style of football under Alonso.

Thanks to his fine start, the Spanish tactician has now been named La Liga’s Best Coach for August, with the Real Madrid boss beating competition from Ernesto Valverde of Athletic Club and Manolo Gonzalez of RCD Espanyol in the final vote.

Having gotten off to a fine start, Alonso will be hoping to extend that run when Real Madrid face off against Real Sociedad after the international break.
