Morgan Sanson and Terem Moffi were both involved in first-team training for OGC Nice today, however, neither will take any part against AJ Auxerre on Friday. As Franck Haise revealed on Wednesday, the club have a specific plan to bring the pair back into the fold.
Sanson has been absent all season after suffering an ankle injury just before the start of the campaign. Initially, the former Aston Villa midfielder was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, however, this was a misdiagnosis and in fact, a month later, following further medical consultation, it was revealed that he had suffered a double ankle fracture.
Meanwhile, Moffi, who suffered an ACL injury in pre-season, is also nearing a return. The plan for both is to give them minutes with Nice’s development side, the Groupe Élite.
“Morgan will play tomorrow (Thursday) with the Groupe Élite. It is important that he returns with game time. He’ll play an hour against Brentford’s U23s,” began Haise in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News. “Terem is coming back but there is still some apprehension. It is about working well in the coming weeks. There is another Groupe Élite match 26th against Brighton’s U23s and he should return then, even if it is not an official match. They a preparing for that and when they have returned to competition, even if it is an unofficial competition, if it goes well, it is then easier to select them.”
