Lyon host Lens on Sunday on Ligue 1’s final day with third, fourth or fifth still in play, and European football already secured for next season. Which competition, and by which route, hinges on results elsewhere.

According to Le Progres, OL are guaranteed at least fifth after their defeat at Toulouse, one place better than the past two seasons. Their final position will decide whether they reach the Champions League directly, go through qualifying and a play-off, or enter the Europa League.

OL are level on goal difference with Lille at +17, but ahead on head-to-head after two 1-0 wins. They also have a superior goal difference to Rennes, +17 to +11, and split their meetings, a 1-3 loss and a 4-2 win.

OL finish third if they beat Lens and Lille fail to beat Auxerre. A draw would also be enough if Lille lose to Auxerre and Rennes do not win at Marseille.

They finish fourth if they beat Lens and Lille beat Auxerre. A draw would also bring fourth, provided Lille avoid defeat, and defeat to Lens would still mean fourth, in both cases only if Rennes fail to win at Marseille.

OL end up fifth if they do not beat Lens and Rennes win at Marseille, regardless of Lille’s result.
