Real Madrid allowed Endrick to leave in the ongoing winter transfer window, thereby. Prioritising his development and ensuring he gets the minutes he needs to hone his skills.

The decision was initially prompted by the fact that Xabi Alonso did not hand him many minutes in the first half of the season, but even the manager’s sacking did not see the club revert the loan.

Endrick, meanwhile, has gone on to make his debut for Olympique Lyon and even scored in his first game for his new club.

A great achievement

As relayed by MARCA in a recent report, Endrick played his first game for Lyon as a right-winger – a position where he has not featured prominently in the past. In that sense, it was a novel challenge for him.

Despite playing as a winger, however, he was handed the freedom to occupy central positions and drift during the progression of play to potentiate his threat. In that sense, he was deployed as a ‘false winger’ – something that suited him perfectly.

Endrick started on the night and scored in the 42nd minute of the game off a Corentin Tolisso assist. He was one of the best players on the field and racked up six shots including three on target, and three dribbles on the night.

In fact, he has a stunning record in scoring early in his spell with teams. He needed just 92 minutes for his first goal with Palmeiras, 47 minutes to hit that mark with Brazil, just ten minutes for Real Madrid, and has not scored in just 42 minutes for Lyon.

Real Madrid will hope the Brazilian can keep up his form and continue scoring goals on loan, especially given how he is likely to return to their dynamics in the summer.

Meanwhile, they will also pay attention to the idea of playing him as a ‘false winger’, for they too are struggling in the right-wing department with a lack of quality options.
