FLW's Blackburn fan pundit has told us what his one demand to the club's ownership is

Blackburn Rovers have made a strong start to the new Championship season under John Eustace.

The Lancashire outfit narrowly avoided relegation last year, finishing 19th in the table and only three points clear of the bottom three.

The first team squad also lost key star Sammie Szmodics over the summer.

The Ireland international joined Ipswich Town after scoring 27 goals in the Championship, the most of anyone in the division (all stats from Fbref).

Blackburn have had their fair share of financial issues under Venkys' ownership, so his sale for a fee worth up to £11 million, via the BBC, will have helped with any possible concerns.

When asked what one demand he has of the club’s owners, FLW’s Blackburn fan pundit Toby Wilding suggested confirmation from Venkys' that they’d be open to a sale.

He believes that this would ease the supporters’ concerns over the long-term sustainability of Rovers, even if no sale would be imminent.

“I think the one thing I would like to see them do is make it clear that they would potentially be open to a sale,” Wilding told Football League World.

“So far it seems as though that they’ve got a pretty firm stance that they would not be selling, judging by everything that’s come out of the club.

“And I don’t think, when you look at the uncertainty there is around the financial situation, and the court hearings that have been undergone in India anytime Venky wants to put money in is a particularly stable situation for the club.

“Certainly, looking at the situation as a whole, it doesn’t seem massively sustainable.

“So I think if the Venky's were to come out and make it clear that in the right circumstances and to the right bidder, they would be willing to sell Blackburn Rovers.

“I think it could potentially open up a bit more stability for the club, and give fans a bit more hope and optimism for what the future might hold for the club, certainly from a financial perspective.”

Blackburn’s start to the season

Eustace’s side currently sit eighth in the Championship table, with two defeats in their last two games taking them out of the play-off places.

Blackburn have won four of their opening nine games, drawing three, with the gap to leaders Sunderland being just four points at this early stage of the campaign.

The Lancashire outfit have not been in the Premier League since 2012, so a promotion charge this year would be a welcome surprise given expectations back in August.

Next up for Rovers is a home game against Swansea City on 19 October.

Ownership certainty would be a positive step forward for Blackburn

Venky’s ownership of Blackburn hasn’t been popular, with the financial difficulties behind the scenes impacting their ability to compete on the pitch.

Rovers used to be a regular in the Premier League prior to the takeover of the club in 2010, but they have dropped as low as League One in their time in charge.

Supporters would welcome a full sale as soon as possible, as long as the right bidder was found.
