Opta’s updated final Premier League table reflects a turbulent weekend in the survival fight as Leeds United head to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, a series of results has prompted changes to the projected standings and points.

Leeds began the weekend 15th, four points above the drop zone. On Friday, third-bottom West Ham climbed out of danger with a 4-0 home win over Wolves.

That result dropped Tottenham Hotspur into the bottom three for the first time this season. Spurs had the chance to respond at Sunderland on Sunday in Roberto De Zerbi’s first game, starting the day three points behind Leeds with the same games played.

De Zerbi’s debut ended in a 1-0 defeat and captain Cristian Romero went off injured.

At the same time, fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest, who began the weekend a point behind Leeds, hosted Aston Villa and drew 1-1 at Villa Park. Leeds now sit three points clear of the drop zone, with a game in hand on third-bottom Spurs, who are two behind West Ham and three adrift of both Leeds and Forest.
