Pablo Orbaiz is weighing up whether to continue at Lezama after a year back on Ernesto Valverde’s staff, as new head coach Edin Terzic brings in his staff. He had been tasked as assistant and to lead individualised work with the first team.

According to as.com, the club’s proposal has not convinced him because of revised duties. Jon Aspiazu, fitness coach Luis Prieto and analyst Alberto Iglesias have already departed the structure.

Orbaiz returned to Athletic to support Valverde, previously his manager at Athletic and at Olympiacos. Over the past season he worked alongside Aspiazu, goalkeeping coach Iru, and the first team’s physios and fitness staff.

A product of Osasuna’s academy, he made 318 appearances across 12 seasons in Athletic’s midfield alongside his friend Gurpegui.

After retiring at Valle de Egüés in Tercera División, where he also coached an Infantil side, he joined Osasuna’s set-up. He led their Cadete team before becoming assistant with the Juvenil de Honor.

He has combined touchline duties with methodology development and individual programmes, and worked in Primera División as Leo Franco’s assistant at SD Huesca. Orbaiz is now considering fresh options as he plans the next step in his career.
