“OUT FOR A THROW IN?!” – Rangers fans can’t understand the Youssef Chermiti fixation

The Youssef Chermiti fallacy continues to rumble on in Rangers fan circles. While Rangers are down a heck of a lot with injuries, nevertheless there has to always be something better than the Portuguese. He has been agony for Rangers. One goal and one assist is all he can boast and he’s looked so poor as a striker for the club. Youssef Chermiti miss was embarrassing.

Not His Job to Defend

Yes he did work a little harder last night and managed some defensive work which was at least decent but that’s not his job. His job is to score goals, create goals, cause nuisances in opposing defences. He just doesn’t do that. Whenever he’s in the box he looks like somebody who’s literally never played football and is having a go for the first time. That’s not football banter from Ibrox Noise over-exaggerating how poor a player is. That really is how he looks. And we saw that when he missed from 8 yards and it ended up a throw in.

A Hobbyist, Not a Striker

Against Dundee United, he dived for a header. Basically having watched it on TV that that’s what players do and missed by a mile an open goal. He’s missed quite a few open goals to be fair. Chermiti just coming across like a player who both does not want to be at Rangers, should not be at Rangers and is picking this up as a hobby for the first time in his life.

We’re sure he’s a nice enough guy even if his response to his goal was extremely misguided against Kilmarnock earlier in the season. But nevertheless he is so far off Rangers level that we can’t fathom why Rohl keeps using him.

Time to Move On

Surely a kid from the youth system or even James Tavernier as a striker would work better. There are other options aside Youssef Chermiti who may have cost a fortune but he’s just not worth playing. He is not helping Rangers on any level apart from randomly a bit defensively last night. We do hope Rohl will see sense and dump him permanently because Youssef Chermiti miss was woeful.
