Oyarzabal reached 100 La Liga goals on Saturday, converting a 91st-minute penalty at Anoeta to secure Real Sociedad a 2-2 draw with Betis. The hosts had trailed 0-2.

AS reports that the captain’s strike was his 15th in the 2025-26 league campaign, 18 in all competitions, matching Willian José’s 2017-18 haul and leaving him close to previous club tallies by Isak, Griezmann and Vela. Those marks stand at 17 for both Isak and Griezmann, and 16 for Vela.

It was his seventh goal from the spot this league season, surpassing the club’s single-season Liga record he previously shared with Kortabarria, Kodro and Xabi Prieto. Of the total, 32 have come from penalties.

The milestone places him third on Real Sociedad’s all-time La Liga scoring list, behind Satrústegui on 132 and López Ufarte on 102. Among Gipuzkoan scorers for the club, his 100 put him ahead of Zamora on 63, Silvestre Igoa on 58 and Agirretxe on 56.

After the match, Oyarzabal reflected that it has been a very difficult year for the club and supporters, saying the group have come through it together.

He praised the team’s reaction, highlighting their character and determination to keep pushing forward. He added that being captain of this side is a source of pride and that he intends to keep leading with his head held high.

This campaign now stands as his best league return for Real Sociedad, surpassing the 13 he recorded in 2018-19.
