A deep-lying playmaker who can dictate the tempo in the middle of the park has always been a key piece in most of Spalletti’s teams, from David Pizarro at Roma, to Stanislav Lobotka at Napoli and Marcelo Brozovic at Inter.
According to the report, the Italian tactician wants to bring a similar player to the Allianz Stadium in January, so discussions with club directors have already begun.

Gazzetta notes that Hojbjerg and Bernabé have different skill sets, but have a common trait, which is a past under Pep Guardiola.
The Denmark international and ex-Tottenham midfielder played under Guardiola at Bayern Munich, while Bernabé played for three years in the Manchester City youth team before joining Parma in 2021.

The latter has scored two goals in 13 appearances this season, the last one against Milan on Saturday.
Gazzetta highlights that persuading either Marseille or Parma to a January sale will be challenging for the Old Lady, still the Bianconeri will do all they can to match their coach’s demands.
