According to Globo.com, Palmeiras have offered around R$120 million plus defender Naves to Botafogo for midfielder Danilo. The proposal has been with Botafogo for weeks without a reply.
Danilo is under contract until July 2029 and is the board's main target this season. For now, Palmeiras' only active move in the market concerns the midfielder.
Naves is contracted to Palmeiras until December 2028 and spent last season on loan at Portugal's FC Alverca, scoring three in 34 games. In April last year, Botafogo sought a loan with an option to buy, but Palmeiras would only discuss a permanent sale.
Talks for Danilo began in the first window of 2026, then ended in February after John Textor, then heading SAF Botafogo, wrote to president Leila Pereira saying he did not want to negotiate. Palmeiras nevertheless stayed in touch with the player's camp.
In May, Botafogo began to admit a sale, seeking around €40 million and hoping the World Cup would lift his value. Palmeiras considered that unviable, but were open to an operation of up to about €30 million.
At the tournament, Danilo came on in four games, against Morocco, Haiti, Japan and Norway, and had no goals or assists as Brazil exited in the last 16. Limited minutes under Carlo Ancelotti reduced expectations of major European bids.
In Brazil, Palmeiras position themselves as favourites, helped by their ties to Danilo, who came through their academy, turned professional in 2020 and played three seasons, posting 12 goals and eight assists.
