Vitor Roque began on the bench against São Paulo at Morumbis, came on in the second half of the 1-0 win, and still looked short of rhythm. Palmeiras will use the international break to push him back towards full fitness.
According to Globo.com, the club’s health and performance unit have planned a muscle-strengthening programme across two sessions, with training intensity returning to normal after players take a brief rest at the start of the window.
He will get a rare breather until the squad reconvenes on Wednesday, and has been advised to keep to low intensity work. Since the Paulista semi-final against São Paulo he has dealt with fatigue and ankle pain, which worsened after he played through the second leg of the final.
A heavy pitch in Novo Horizonte, allied to those concerns, kept him out against Vasco and Mirassol. He returned for Botafogo as a substitute. He has passed 1,000 minutes in 2026 and is among the club’s 10 most used players.
Internally, Palmeiras managed his recovery with caution given his importance, and in training he did not look comfortable and avoided certain movements. Assistant João Martins said he played the final in sacrifice, is not yet 100 per cent but improving, and that the pause should help.
The club are aiming to have him available without restrictions for Grêmio on 2 April, Thursday, 21:30 Brasília time, at Arena Crefisa Barueri. After missing the March call-up following that sacrifice, as Carlo Ancelotti explained, this period is also important with the World Cup starting in June and the final list due in May.
