According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras returned to work on Monday at the Academia de Futebol after a 3-1 win over São Paulo at Arena Crefisa Barueri, and are now preparing for their Campeonato Brasileiro opener away to Atlético-MG on Wednesday 28 at 19h at Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte.

The day began with physical activation work at the Centro de Excelência, then on-pitch technical and tactical drills covering movement, marking, build-up play, playing out from the back, crossing and finishing.

The starters from the clássico left the session early and did indoor recovery, while the remainder of the squad took part in small-sided technical exercises.

Lucas Evangelista and Figueiredo continued their on-grass return-to-play programme, and Paulinho underwent treatment with the club’s health and performance unit.

Right-back Khellven, who scored in the clássico, said his first goal for the club left him proud and very happy. He believes the derby win can build confidence and improve performance, and after a broken finger against River Plate disrupted his early run, he feels even a short pre-season with team-mates will be important. He thinks the season can be successful, stresses the squad’s daily resilience and self-demand, and says they will now look for three points in the league.
