Paraag Marathe and the 49ers Enterprises board are moving to act decisively on Lucas Perri, with Leeds United seeking to trim a costly goalkeeping wage slot after the Brazilian lost his place to Karl Darlow.
According to Leedsunited.news, Leeds have set a minimum £10.2m valuation for the 28-year-old, whose package is around €2m a season, roughly £32,300 a week.
Perri joined from Lyon last summer in a structured deal worth up to £15.6m. The initial outlay was £13.9m, yet a mid-season arm injury and uneven form saw Daniel Farke turn to Darlow for the run-in.
With Illan Meslier gone and financial guidelines in play, carrying a high-paid reserve is viewed as an unnecessary drain. Clearing Perri’s salary would free room to pursue high-end targets such as Parma’s Zion Suzuki.
Torino have shortlisted Perri, though combining the fee with his wages is a significant obstacle, and talks could hinge on instalments or a loan-to-buy. Marathe’s approach, forged with the San Francisco 49ers, is metrics-led and unsentimental, avoiding the sunk cost fallacy to protect wage headroom and reshape Farke’s goalkeeping department.
