Paris FC make move for Edin Dzeko, a striker Stéphane Gilli knows well | OneFootball

Paris FC have made contact with Edin Dzeko as they search for a centre forward this winter. According to L'Équipe, the promoted side have prioritised the position in January.

Any deal would be one of the standout moves of the window. Dzeko, 39, is a Bosnia and Herzegovina international with 146 caps and 72 goals and is currently at Fiorentina, 18th in Serie A. He turns 40 on 17 March.

He has scored two in 18 appearances for the Viola this season. Last term he hit 21 goals in 53 matches in all competitions for Fenerbahçe.

At 1.93 m, with his finishing and penalty-box instincts, he could offer the firepower Paris FC need in their survival fight, their attack ranks 11th in Ligue 1 at mid-season. He also knows Stéphane Gilli well from Bosnia duty when Gilli was Mécha Bazdarevic’s assistant between 2014 and 2017. Dzeko has previously described Gilli as honest and humble.

The Bosnian is being pursued alongside other options. Paris FC dropped their interest in Sidiki Chérif of Angers, while the track for Brest’s Ludovic Ajorque remains active. The club also announced on Friday the loan of midfielder Marshall Munetsi, 29, from Wolverhampton until the end of the season.
