Erling Haaland is attracting behind-the-scenes interest from Paris Saint-Germain as Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola faces uncertainty over his future, as per a new report.

Guardiola has under 18 months left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium and there has been increasing speculation over the Catalan potentially parting ways with the eight-time Premier League champions at the end of the season.

The 55-year-old signed a two-and-a-half year deal in November 2024 that contracts him to Manchester City till 2027 but a flurry of reports in the English press have reflected increasing doubt in Premier League circles over Guardiola’s club future.

Enzo Maresca, who was relieved of his duties as Chelsea head coach on New Year’s Day, forms part of a three-man shortlist drafted by executives at the Etihad Stadium to replace Guardiola – alongside Como boss Cesc Fabreagas and former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.

Guardiola has dismissed speculation over his future and has repeatedly pointed to the fact that he is under contract at Manchester City, who would regardless be planning for life beyond the legendary Catalan coach, who is into his 10th season in England.

Manchester City are at an embryonic stage of their transition under director of football Hugo Viana and the Portuguese executive, who replaced Txiki Begiristain last summer, has been tasked by club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak to recruit a potent successor for Guardiola.

City are in the hunt for silverware on four fronts in the business end of the season and with Arsenal losing further ground in the title race after squandering a two goal lead against Wolves on Wednesday night, it is all for the Blues to do between now and the end of the campaign.

Erling Haaland has rediscovered his goalscoring touch in recent weeks after a barren run in front of goal in January and the Norwegian’s form will have a pivotal say in how successful a finish to the season Manchester City enjoy.

Haaland is under contract at the Etihad Stadium till the summer of 2034 after penning a ten-and-a-half-year deal, thought that isn’t stopping some of Europe’s best clubs in making behind-the-scenes approaches for the 25-year-old.

TeamTalk are reporting that Paris Saint-Germain have enquired about the possibility of signing Haaland and while the forward remains fully focussed on life at the Etihad Stadium, Barcelona and Real Madrid also believe the Leeds-born star has an exit route in the form of release clauses entered into his contract.

The report has cited a confirmation that PSG have asked to be kept in the loop on potential developments around Haaland’s Manchester City future, with the Ligue 1 giants also navigating uncertainty around Ousmane Dembele’s contract at the Parc des Princes.

Manchester City are rebuilding their next generation of players around Haaland and club bosses will be maintaining a regular line of communication with their number nine’s representatives to ensure all parties stay on the same page.
