Pau Navarro handed Villarreal first-team number six after standout displays | OneFootball

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Pau Navarro has been handed a first-team squad number at Villarreal this window, switching from 26 to number six and taking Solomon’s shirt.

The 20-year-old delivered standout displays, patrolling the side of Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappé against Real Madrid, then handling Raphinha against Barcelona. He has shown a maturity beyond his 20 years.

Navarro made the step up last year, and this season he has cemented himself as a reliable option for Marcelino. He has been used at centre-back and at full-back when required.

Juan Foyth’s serious injury opens even more opportunities for him in the second half of the campaign.

In June he extended his contract until June 2030. This season he has featured in 13 matches, nine in La Liga, three in the Champions League and one in the Copa, totalling 1,010 minutes as his importance grows.
