Despite persistent rumours linking Luis Díaz to both Saudi Arabia and Barcelona, Liverpool have not received a single formal approach for the Colombian winger and are not planning to part ways with him.
Paul Joyce of The Times reports that Al-Nassr were “purported to be ready to pay up to €85 million (£71.53 million)” for Díaz, while Deco at Barcelona has shown “long admiration” for the player. Yet Liverpool, Premier League champions under Arne Slot, remain unmoved.
Club sources are said to be “perplexed” by the renewed speculation. Díaz played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s title-winning season, contributing 17 goals in 50 appearances. His ability to feature both on the left wing and centrally has made him an essential figure in Slot’s fluid attacking system.

While reports have floated the idea of a new contract for Díaz, Liverpool are not preparing to open talks. The 28-year-old still has two years remaining on his current deal, and the club is in no rush to amend that.
“Liverpool have no plans to open talks with Díaz, who has two years left on his existing deal and will turn 29 midway through next season,” writes Joyce.
That stance will likely frustrate suitors, especially as Díaz’s stock has only risen since his arrival from Porto in January 2022. Under Slot’s tactical demands, the Colombian has flourished, showing energy, directness and a knack for vital goals.
Barcelona’s interest appears real but speculative. Deco’s admiration is longstanding, but Joyce notes the Spanish giants already have Lamine Yamal and Raphinha occupying wide roles. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, returning from loan at Aston Villa, is also on their radar and would “almost certainly come cheaper than Díaz.”
Meanwhile, Saudi interest from Al-Nassr follows a pattern of large offers for Premier League stars, but no formal bid has been placed. Díaz’s profile — a top-flight champion at his peak age — makes him a prime target, yet Liverpool remain clear: they are not selling.

Díaz’s role under Arne Slot cannot be overstated. The Colombian became a go-to player during Liverpool’s high-intensity title push, especially as injuries and absences hit other attacking options.
His pressing, creativity and ability to stretch defences were fundamental in Slot’s transitional tactics. While the squad will continue to evolve, there’s little incentive for Liverpool to offload one of their most dependable assets — especially when replacements of similar calibre would likely cost more than any incoming fee.
It’s difficult not to feel a sense of déjà vu. Every summer, Luis Díaz seems to be linked away, yet each season he delivers. From a supporter’s point of view, Díaz is more than just a versatile forward — he’s symbolic of a post-Klopp Liverpool era that retains its edge while adapting to new leadership.
Arne Slot clearly values him. You don’t start 50 games and bag 17 goals in a title-winning side unless the manager trusts you. Díaz may not have the global profile of Salah but he’s relentless, reliable and ready when it matters.
The fact that Liverpool are not entertaining offers nor rushing to extend his contract suggests contentment — not neglect. He’s under contract for two more years, and the club may simply be watching how things develop under Slot’s second season before committing to long-term renewals.
From Barcelona’s side, it’s hard to imagine them coughing up over £70 million for a player when they have more urgent needs elsewhere. And as for Saudi links? Without a bid, it’s all just noise.
For now, Díaz stays. And Liverpool fans will hope he continues to silence speculation the best way possible — on the pitch.
