South African forward Percy Tau missed a penalty as his team, Nam Dinh, played to a 1-1 draw with Johor Darul Ta'zim in the ASEAN Club Championship on Thursday.
The Vietnamese champions broke the deadlock through Nguyen Van Vi in the 33rd minute, just moments after Caio Cesar had missed a penalty.
Interestingly, Nam Dinh were awarded another penalty in the 56th minute, with Tau failing to convert from the spot like his team-mate in the first half.
The Malaysian giants got a penalty of their own, and made no mistake as Bergson calmly slotted home in the 87th minute.
Despite the stalemate, Tau's side remains two points clear at the summit of Group B, having amassed 13 points from five matches in the six-team group.
Nam Dinh advanced to the knockout stages as the top two teams in both Group A and B square off in a four-team knockout phase for the crown.
Tau signed for the V.League 1 title holders in August 2025, on a one-year deal that's set to run until June 2026.
The 31-year-old Bafana international has chipped in with three assists and hasn't found the back of the net in 16 games for Nam Dinh.
Meanwhile, compatriot Njabulo Blom, who also signed for Nam Dinh in August last year, is yet to make his debut for the club, having sustained a long-term injury.
