PSV manager Peter Bosz found his side’s 2-2 draw against Ajax hard to accept this weekend, especially given his team’s early momentum.

“I thought we were completely in control in the first half. As a manager, I feel whether I’m sitting quietly on the bench or not. This time I was sitting quietly. Suddenly it’s 1-1. For me, that goal came out of nowhere,” he said in his post-match press conference, referring to the penalty converted by Kenneth Taylor.

“With the introduction of Oscar Gloukh, we found ourselves struggling,” Bosz said as he analysed the second period. “Ajax should have taken the lead in the first phase of the second half. After that, we took control again. When you make it 2-1 just before the final whistle, you can’t give it away. We did that by moving back.”

Bosz saw that a lot went wrong for both teams. “But we played an acceptable match. You just don’t reward yourself. I think that’s the biggest shame for the new, young players. We still need to grow together. Results help with that. A team in development also needs a sense of success.”

Ismael Saibari scored with his head against Ajax, but also missed good chances, just like on Tuesday in the Champions League against Union.

“He’s too often off-balance when he shoots. Ismael needs to find more composure and sometimes also shoot with the inside of his foot. If he can make that step, he’ll become an even better player.”
