Piccinato on Robledo choice, updates on Corinthians strikers' fitness

On the afternoon of this Saturday, the 11th, Corinthians took the field again for the Women’s Copa Libertadores. In a match played at Estadio Nuevo Francisco Urbano, in Morón, Argentina, the Brabas faced Boca Juniors-ARG in the quarterfinals of the continental tournament and won comfortably 4–0. The goals were scored by Gabi Zanotti (three) and Johnson.

After the rout, coach Lucas Piccinato spoke to the press in a press conference, where he explained the choice of Robledo among the starters: “We understood that Boca’s left side had some fragility. Putting a very fast player there could be an important resource for us. In addition, in a tournament like this, it’s essential to rotate the squad as much as possible. I’m very happy with her performance; she had another very solid game. She has grown a lot.”

He also updated the physical condition of Jaqueline, who has been treating an ankle trauma. “Jaque had her first training session with the ball yesterday, and today she would have been available to play a few minutes if necessary, if the game called for it. Vic has also recovered well. On the first day she was in a lot of pain, but today, if the game needed it, she probably could have come on,” he said.

Finally, Piccinato celebrated not only Jaqueline’s recovery, but also the absence of any detected injury in Vic Albuquerque. “It’s great that we managed to resolve the game more quickly, and we were able to rest them so they can have an even better recovery. They’re not at 100%, so each day, each extra training session they can do will surely make a difference so they arrive at the right moment and can play as well as possible,” he concluded.
