On Saturday, Lazio earned what was arguably their most remarkable win of the season thus far, not due to the size of the opposition (in this case Parma), but due to the incredibly challenging circumstances.
Following red cards to Mattia Zaccagni and Toma Basic, the Biancocelesti had to focus on clinging on to the draw, but they somehow managed to find a late winner thanks to Tijjani Noslin.
So here are our player ratings for Lazio who defied all odds to prevail over Parma at the Ennio Tardini by a solitary strike.
Ivan Provedel – 7.5
The goalkeeper parried away Adrian Bernabe’s shot in the first half, but he saved the best to last, flying to pulll off a jaw-dropping stop on Nahuel Estevez late in the contest.
Adam Marusic – 7
The Montenegrin never allowed anyone to skip past him at the back. Held firm in the most delicate moments.
Patric – 5.5
The veteran expectedly had some nervy moments on his return to the starting lineup, but it didn’t prove costly for Lazio. He made way to Provstgaard in the final 20 minutes.
Alessio Romagnoli – 7
Aside from a few scares against Pellegrini, Lazio’s defensive stalwart kept it clean and tidy at the back with another commanding display.
Luca Pellegrini – 7
The Italian left-back looked solid in defence, and did well in his attacking forays, picking up Cancellieri on the opposite flank on a couple of occasions.
Matteo Guendouzi – 6
A mixed bag from the Frenchman, who ran his socks off, but also allowed Parma players to dribble past him more than once.
Danilo Cataldi – 7
A sublime showing from the Regista who provided the assist for the instantly famous winner. Put all his skills and experience to help Lazio burst forward and neutralize the numerical disadvantage.
Toma Basic – 5.5
The Croatian may have been harshly sent off, but he could have avoided the off-the-ball physical contact with Estevez in the first place. Came close to breaking the deadlock on a couple of occasions in the first half.
Matteo Cancellieri – 6
The winger started on a bright note against his former employers, testing Edoardo Corvi with a shot early on. However, his impact was limited following Zaccagni’s dismissal.
Taty Castellanos – 5.5
The Argentine connected well with his teammates, but never really had a sniff at goal.
Mattia Zaccagni – 4.5
The captain had his moments in the first half, including setting up a brilliant chance for Basic. However, he left his team with a man down for the majority of the match with what was deemed a reckless challenge on Nahuel Estevez.
Tijjani Noslin – 8
Sometimes, all it takes is one moment of brilliance for a player to cement his place in history. With his team reduced to nine men, the Dutchman chased what seemed to be a lost cause, but somehow forced Lautaro Valenti into a mistake, before rounding the goalkeeper and slotting the ball home.
Fisayo Dele-Basiru – 6
The Nigerian saw little of the ball, but made two important clearances in added time.
Oliver Provstgaard – 7
The Dane was a towering presence at the back, clearing the ball with his head on several occasions in the dying minutes.
Matias Vecino – N/A
