Evanilson's second-half effort cancelled out Eliezer Mayenda's opener as Bournemouth battled back to earn a point at home to Sunderland.
The Black Cats thought they should have a penalty in the opening minutes of the game on the south coast when Álex Jiménez barged into the back of Enzo Le Fée.
Referee Jarred Gillett didn't award it and surprisingly VAR didn't escalate the issue in what was a let off for the Cherries.
The visitors didn't have to wait too much longer before breaking the deadlock though. Dan Ballard found Habib Diarra whose shot forced Djordje Petrovic into a solid stop with Eliezer Mayenda then able to easily finish on the rebound for his first Premier League goal since the opening weekend of the season.
From that point on Bournemouth had a few chances of their own with Robin Roefs needing to make a solid save to prevent Alex Scott from scoring a direct free-kick.
Andoni Iraola's side equalised with just over an hour gone after a superb cross from the left by Marcus Tavernier that deceived Roefs allowing substitute Evanilson to head home. VAR did have a look at it for a potential handball as the Brazilian didn't make the best contact but the goal stood.
Sunderland did have the ball in the net again in the 82nd minute. Bournemouth didn't deal with a freekick that resulted in Mayenda having a shot that was nodded in by Diarra but the latter was offside in what was a far less contentious decision.
Despite plenty of added time neither side managed to find a winner with a draw a fair result.
