Poland head coach Jan Urban left Oskar Pietuszewski out of the squad to face Albania in the 2026 World Cup play-off, yet praised the Porto winger’s clássico strike against Benfica and highlighted how he beat Nicolás Otamendi.

"It was a really good move. It was a great burst that took him into the box and there he got past Otamendi very well," Urban said, speaking to Antena 1.

"He was excellent on the dribble, because Otamendi thought he would win the ball, but Pietuszewski ended up deceiving the Benfica centre-back. A very, very good move, a great finish."

The 63-year-old added that he is closely monitoring the youngster despite the omission, and his remarks referred to Porto’s second goal on Sunday.

That goal also featured referee João Pinheiro outpacing several Benfica players during their defensive recovery, leaving Enzo Barrenechea and Tomás Araújo behind.

This season for Benfica, Nicolás Otamendi has played 43 official matches, 24 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Liga dos Campeões, two in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça, totalling 3,809 minutes and three goals.
